Tornians Series by M.K. Eidem

Torians

This alien abduction kind of romance are the stories I usually read after I had long intense emotional-wrecking kind of book. Because most of the time alien stories are short, light, funny and have a happy ending. Sooo it was kinda surprising that Tornian series is a little bit longer than I anticipated. As well as story wise, it had rich story plot same as the shifter books I love to read. To say I like Tornians series is an understatement! M.K. Eidem did an amazing job creating story that runs my imagination wild. Because of that, she’s one of my faves now. 🙂

Basically these aliens abducting “unprotected” Earth women was due to their compatibility to provide offspring to Tornian males. Because of the epidemic brought by Goddess’ madness, a female born Tornian became so rare that the ratio of their population is 100 male to 1 female. In short, their species are dying and they need to find compatible women to breed. Since female are so rare, they are very precious wherein laws and policies revolved around them. Its all about their safety, privileged and other outrageous practices that benefit them. So it is really funny when Earth women came to their planet and act freely that made warriors, lords, king and emperor look like a boy into their teenage years. xD

Tornian series have everything. Rich history, evil-conniving bitch, loyal and brave warriors, loving women and loca Goddess. 🙂 It has lots of action moments, sexcapade, and magic. The ‘love-at-first-sight’ kind of romance is very very evident in the story.

Boston Underworld Series by A. Zavarelli

This is about Irish mob with a little Italian mafia feels. The typical underground syndicate with lots of fighting, illegal money and alpha-ness. It was the usual day in criminal world when suddenly a half Irish born woman fights in a ring and knocked out a big mobster. Caught the eye of Lachlan Crow, the underboss; then there goes the seductions, hot sex, and lies. The plan of looking for BFF turned out into being the underboss’ woman and getting pregnant with his baby. With all the killings and kidnappings, love undeniably blossomed between the main couples. I love how A. Zavarelli wrote her stories with conflicting emotions. Provide depth for the characters 🙂

For Book 2 to 4, its kinda same pattern. Heroine in need of saving and here comes this hot smexy alpha machoness to save her broken soul. The background stories of these females were really something serious and I kinda understand how they turned out the way they are. Damaged and abused emotionally and physically, yet they found that special someone to depend on after everything. I’m kinda happy for them especially they were given a chance to create a family with the babies coming up. 🙂

Boston Underworld series is really entertaining. I love the action and everyting about the Mafia / Mobster world. You know what I mean, killings and all that war for power. Nonetheless, its still one of the best 🙂 Love the story pacing as well as the characters. Especially it is a HEA, and its my always my favorite whenever little cherubs are born into the story. Totally cute! ❤

The Kings Series by Heather Killough-Walden

TheKingSeries

If you want to read this series, go back and read the Big Bad Wolf series first. The werewolves there are very much relevant  with the 13 Kings that will found their queens eventually. So… peg back a little so you can better understand everything 🙂

Soooo how do I start? 13 Kings equates to 13 Queens and 13 supernatural realms! Yes, magic, magic, magic! Give me more maaaaggggiiiccccc!!!! 😀 I enjoy reading this series and I’m still a little bit salty about the cliffhanger since Book 11-13 is not yet released! Uuuggghhh the suspense of knowing who that damn traitor is. After all the betrayal and deaths, I cant wait!

Heather-Killough Walden really improved her writing in this series. The pace isn’t as fast as before and more depth for the characters. The little details in describing the different realms are also amazing as well. I love that the old characters are still interrelated to the new ones and the mysteries to be solved are endless! Don’t even forget the deaths! I think this had been the only series I read which had the most number of resurrected people. Thank God for the Warlock King and Lalura Chantelle. Seriously, when will I know what and who is Lalura Chantelle really is?! And that damn traitor! Ughhhh! I can’t handle the suspense T.T

Overall, this is one hell of a magical series. The Kings are alphas of all alpha men and the Queens are just bad-ass as well. Oh did I mention the villain in this series? At first we just have the annoying hunters, then we got another ancient vampires! After that the Gods were revealed and now we fight the unknown called the Entity. Seriously, the war is never ending until the 13 queens are found. I hope its not over yet since the Kings being chopped one by one. I am not even sure if we have complete 13 men by the end of this series.

Big Bad Wolf Series by Heather Killough-Walden

wolf

Honestly after I read The Heat, it left me kinda feeling MEH. It feels like the author have so much ideas and tried so hard to put in one book. I love action but Book 1 had so much action with little romance. I think the heroine had more interaction with the enemies than the hero itself. Like, WTF right?! Daniel and Lily have little moments and its disappointing. Malcolm Cole had more depth story than the protagonist. 😦

Good thing in The Strip, the pace gets better! The storyline made more sense and additional characters were introduced. It made me more happy to see previous characters are actively part of the 2nd, 3rd and until 4th book. So it became this big supernatural world of werewolves looking for Dormants mate with addition of sadistic shifter who happened to be the leader of Hunters. Not enough, we have Warlocks, Witches, Akyri and Vampires. You will be hooked once you move along with the series. A lot of actions and suspense so you wont be bored reading it.

Overall its worth of 4.5 rating kind of series. It was really magical and that’s what I love the most in supernatural world. Your imagination would be so very colorful and full of unexpected things. It would be so good to escape reality and immersed yourself in their magical world 🙂 I just wish better epilogues. Really that would satisfy my HEA.

Crime Lord Series by Mia Knight

INTENSE!!!!!!! THIS. SERIES. IS. FUCKING. INTENSE.

I think I have a new fave author. ❤

I have read a lot of anti-heroes series and this had the feels of A. Zeverelli’s Bleeding Heart’s Series. Especially in the 2nd book where we read the male character’s POV. But since the authors way of of writing are not the same , you can definitely differentiate the two series. What I love more about Mia Knight is that she focused more on emotions and traits of each characters. It’s not like over the top too much thinking from heroine when it feels like redundant everytime she talks about her feelings. I really really like the way the author portray the characters and how she attacks the storyline. She knows when to take it up a notch and when will feel like everything is mild.

This is the story of Layla Dalton who fell in love with a Las Vegas Crime Lord -Gavin Pyre and was crushed and burned when she caught him cheating on her. On top of that, she saw him killing someone in their basement with his own hands that led to her decision to fled and leave him. But after three long years, Gavin found her and blackmailed her to return in exchange for her good-for-nothing father’s life. Thus, the start of Layla-Gavin emotional roller coaster ride just to get through their relationship. I swear I am a mess while reading just Book 1! And don’t start me with that ending cliffhanger! Thank God Book 2 is already available when I read this. And Recaptured by the Crime Lord was all about new life together as husband and wife. Since we have Gavin’s POV, we also learned how darkness and danger are still around the corner since they haven’t found the killers of Manny and Vinny. Even though it is a little lighter than the first book, it still as emotional and desperate as any book. I just love Gavin Pyre in 2nd book. He is more human in a sense that he is don’t shy to admit his weakness when it comes to Layla. So much death in this series and I cry along with the characters since I super duper adore the supporting casts. Manny, Vinny, and Carmen are totally the bomb. And in some way, I understand why Gavin reacts the way he did when they died. Totally love this series and I cant damn wait for Book 3!!!! Give me Book 3!!!!!

McTierney Series by Michele Sinclair

Oh highlanders! How I love stubborn, alpha men with their pretty, feisty and incredible women. Out of all historical books, these Scottish men are my favorites. Never failed to provide mystery, action and humor. Ofcourse drama is there as well, but the lightness and character’s innocence give readers such happy feeling 😀

First, To Wed a Highlander was totally a hoot! How many times did I laugh and cry while reading the book? Conor and  Laurel battle of wits was super entertaining. The strong, stubborn and prideful characteristic of a highlander warrior was the embodiment of Conor while Laurel is the epitome of an angel with a feisty streak and strong will character. I super love the storyline, how the supporting casts was introduced and how every character complement the McTierneys and all. Its like a very big family with esp with the addition of Lauerl’s original roots.

For the succeeding books, it depicts the story of each McTierney brothers. From Conor, to Cole, Colin, and the twins. Every books has different stories telling how each brothers found their soulmate. And all their wives are stubborn, feisty and independent women. I guess that is what makes the story fun. Though they fall in love easily, it doesn’t mean these girls give in easily. If I think about it, its more these warriors are the one being chased. Yeah these men can think of too many complications. xD
